Topical Chat, Monday, July 18
It has been a slow start to the news week so far - apparently, not many people were drinkin' this weekend, so if the stories sound lame, my apologies:
1. On the record sales of the new Harry Potter book:
"I'm shocked that anybody has time to read with all the video games there are to play."
2. On a hippo celebrating its 54th birthday in Indiana:
"How can anybody or thing celebrate anything in Indiana?"
3. On the revival of the Pro Bowlers Tour and bowling in general:
"When networks found out that people will actually watch others playing cards on television, reviving bowling on television was a no-brainer."
4. On Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:
"I think Johnny Depp is obsessed with the Stones. His character in the Pirates of the Carribean movie was based on Keith Richards, and his Willy Wonka character was partially based on Brian Jones. I'm wondering what movie character he will base on Mick Jagger."
5. On the increase of in-game advertising for a lot of new video games:
"Certainly, this justifies the $50 price-tag on games, not to mention monthly fees to play online."
6. On Disneyland's 50th Anniversary:
"I heard that Michael Jackson was campaigning to be Mickey Mouse for this event."
7. On Apple introducing videos to its I-Tunes, and potentially an I-Pod that plays videos:
"This will be especially safe for the people that drive in cars."
8. On talking pill bottles that will be hitting the market soon:
"Los, this is your drug bottle....take me! Take me now!!!!!"
