Topical Chat, March 26, 2007

I’m still sore from helping the Reverend move this weekend … and, I need to take my car to an Auto Body place, thanks to the 1970 Chevelle that scraped the side of it and took off the back bumper … good times all around!

1. On a man pushing a baby in a carriage along a highway during a rainstorm at 3:40am looking for crack:
“Is there anything that can stop Marion Barry when he’s looking for a fix?”

2. On a dad who was home from Iraq on vacation - but his kids weren’t excused from school to see him:

3. On two women in their 70s facing trial on charges that they insured the lives of two homeless men and ran them over with a car in hit-and-run murders to collect millions of dollars in death benefits:
“I smell a sequel to Thelma and Louise!”

4. On a cancer victim accusing his sister of condemning him to death by refusing to donate bone marrow for an operation:
“Maybe his sister stands to collect millions in death benefits if this guy dies ... conspiracy theories, anyone?”

5. On a judge ordering a man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide to display a large picture of the victim in his home after serving two years in prison:
“Wow, what a great conversation piece that’ll be … “

6. On Taiwan cordoning off part of a highway to create a safe passage for a massive seasonal butterfly migration:

“Was the study done by Hershey’s?”

8. On the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority wanting a state judge to seal documents in the wrongful death suit filed after the Big Dig tunnel collapse – claiming that if the documents were released it could affect the nation's transportation security:
“Right, it has nothing to do with trying to hide the shoddy work.”

And I spent this past weekend in Sonoma and San Francisco.

1. Now that they've found Darryl Strawberry, Steinbrenner will offer him a contract.

2. But they support the troops!

3. This definitely did not occur in San Francisco.

4. Maybe it's time to tell him he was adopted.

5. Love the picture part, but only 2 years?

6. This sounds remarkably like I-5 between Tijuana and San Ysidro, CA.

7. Vanilla and strawberry also supposedly good.

8. Or hiding the actual total bill.
