I'm watching Back to the Future, and I have some questions and issues.
First, how are we supposed to believe that Michael J. Fox can play guitar like Eddie Van Halen? I mean, who was the guy in charge of cast decisions that decided, "Hey, you know who would be a great actor for the part of a 'teenager' who is part of a rock and roll band - Michael J. Fox! Think about it! First, he looks like a rock and roll star - have you seen him on Family Ties? The guy is beyond cool."
Second, why was the song "Power of Love" chosen? Seriously, is this the kick-ass rockin' song that all the cool kids were listening to? Huey Lewis and the News? I'm sorry, couldn't you get the rights to a Billy Joel song? Did Elton John say no when you asked him if you could use "Nikita" as the kick-ass theme song in Teen Wolf?
Third, why does Michael J. Fox use his middle name? Was there another up-and-coming actor named Michael Fox? In grade school, did the teacher take roll like this: "Melissa Crane, Darren Dunn, Michael J. Fox?" This has always bothered me.
There are others, but you get the point.

I caught the Back to the Future marathon on Saturday as well. For the record Back to the Future was the first movie I watched three times in a theatre. It was ahead of its time.
I remmember wanting to own that hover board. Talking trash at school saying it was already invented and that the govenernment wouldn't allow Kiddie City to sell it becasue it would hurt to many kids.
On the topic of the leading actor, I think the made the right choice for in 1986. Michael J. Fox could be compared to Ashton Kutchers charecter in the butterfly effect. It made sence at the time.
I don't know if we can make the jump and say that Michael J. Fox = Ashton Kuchar. I loved the movie, don't get me wrong. A better "rocker" for the time would've been maybe a Charlie Sheen or Rob Lowe. But, Michael J. Fox played the part well. I just thought I'd comment on some thoughts going through my mind about it.
You guys are looking to far into it. Just watch the movie and enjoy it, dammit!
I wanted one of those hoverboards too. I want my flying car!
Great movie, all around. Super- tight story. Yeah, that was a strange choice of a main theme song there, I hear ya, Los. Even ig they were on the Huey Lewis kick for that movie, didn't "Hip to be square" rock harder, and Marty McFly was square, right? So that would have fit better!!
